Case Study Introduction
For DC Shoes we partnered with Creative Nestlings to launch DC100, built on nominations and peer recognition rather than paid placement. Creatives Driving Culture Forward was not a slogan the brand claimed for itself. It was a promise carried by the hundred people the campaign celebrated, and by the communities that named them.

The Challenge
DC Shoes carries real weight in global skate and street culture, but weight earned elsewhere does not transfer automatically to a new market. In South Africa the brand needed to prove it understood the local creative scene on its own terms, not as an outsider arriving with a logo. The next generation shaping street culture responds to participation, not proclamation. The challenge was to earn a place inside that ecosystem by giving something back to it, rather than borrowing its energy for a campaign and leaving.
The Solution
DC100 turned the brand into a platform. Working with Creative Nestlings, we built a campaign to identify, celebrate, and amplify one hundred of South Africa's most impactful creatives across skate, fashion, music, art, and youth culture.
Selection ran on nominations and peer recognition, which meant the community decided who belonged, and the brand's role was to hold up the result. That single mechanic moved DC Shoes from the outside of the conversation to the center of it, with credibility the audience granted rather than the brand asserting.

The Approach
Through creator storytelling, earned media, community partnerships, and digital amplification, the campaign moved beyond traditional advertising. Each of the hundred creatives became a story rather than a statistic, and their networks carried the campaign further than paid reach could. DC Shoes embedded itself authentically within local creative ecosystems, reinforcing its commitment to self expression, originality, and the next generation shaping contemporary street culture globally.

The Platform
DC100 lived as a destination, not a single burst. The microsite, powered by Creative Nestlings, framed the hundred under a clear line, Creatives Driving Culture Forward, and invited the wider community to meet the young innovators shaping South Africa's future. Building the work as an owned platform gave the recognition somewhere permanent to live and gave the brand a reason to keep the conversation open past launch.
