Case Study Introduction
A legacy sportswear brand needed to become desirable to a generation that had never chosen it. Step into Freedom paired the range and color of the Calcio collection with the energy of youth culture, led by an ambassador the audience already trusted, and carried through film and social into the spaces where that audience actually lives.

The Challenge
Ellesse arrived carrying decades of heritage but little relevance where it mattered most. Among young people the brand read as a name from another era, familiar to their parents but absent from the conversations shaping local streetwear and sneaker culture. The Calcio collection gave Ellesse a product built for that audience, but a product alone does not earn a place in youth culture. The brand needed to prove it understood the codes, the sound, and the movement of a generation that decides what is worth wearing. The task was not visibility. It was desirability.
The Solution
The answer started with a name young South Africa already trusted. Ellesse named Nasty C its Africa Brand Ambassador, aligning the brand with an artist whose influence runs through fashion, music, and the everyday language of the streets. Step into Freedom built the campaign around that partnership, matching the range and color of the Calcio collection to the range and color of youth culture itself.
A culturally rooted TV commercial anchored the work, supported by a social rollout designed to live where the audience already spends its time. Rather than talking at young people, the campaign moved with them, letting Nasty C's style and credibility reintroduce Ellesse as a brand built for self expression.

The Film
The commercial placed the Calcio collection inside the world it was made for. Set against the pace and texture of the city, the film used Nasty C not as a spokesperson but as a native of the culture, moving through spaces the audience recognizes as their own. Each colorway found its moment on screen, tying product to personality and freedom of choice to freedom of expression.
The Rollout
The social strategy carried the campaign beyond the screen. Content was built for how young audiences actually watch, share, and respond, prioritizing the platforms and formats native to the community. Teasers, hero film, and cut downs were sequenced to sustain momentum, turning a single launch moment into an ongoing conversation.
